I started my hiv post-exposure prophylaxis after 23-24 hours from exposure. It was a sexual exposure. I took emtricitabine + tenovofir alfanemide and darunavir + rotanavir. I completed 30 day course. But my doubt is, on 19th day of my pep, I gave a sample for HIV RNA pcr test which is done after 10 days from exposure. While giving sample, I saw that person brought alcohol, vials, cotton, injections etc in a tray. The injection in the tray was not packed means not in a wrapper. It was kept there naked. I suspect that it might be a reused injection. So, I want to ask, if at all that person used that injection then have I got second exposure while on pep? It is said that if one gets second exposure during the pep course then pep will fail. Will my pep course will cover this second exposure as sample was given on the 19th day of my exposure and I completed the pep till 30 days means 11 days after exposure I took the medicines. Please guide.
